We’re really excited to announce the launch of our new fleet management and safety product, the ‘Jackal’. This is the most advanced driver safety product that we’ve developed to date, and we’ve lots of plans to develop it further in the future.
When it comes to protecting your fleet, your core concerns are often those of driver safety, visibility, accountability, and vehicle access and security.
These concerns are all addressed by the Jackal through a variety of different features including driver identification, an emergency button, our DriveSafe score, and some advanced features we’ve been trialling such as onboard polygon geofences with up to 5,000 points, and driver access whitelists for up to five hundred drivers.
Although it’s a simple idea, one feature to highlight is our improved sampling of vehicle routes based on when the vehicle makes turns, rather than on a fixed, periodic time interval. This, in turn, helps the entire system be more accurate – particularly for trip analysis and vehicle mileage estimates.
To demonstrate this, shown below is a ten-minute trip in which the start (light) and end (darker) points, as well as the route taken, are now easy to see.
The Jackal itself is based on a customised version of the CalAmp LMU 4200 series telematics device. This is the first time that we’ve integrated and deployed a CalAmp device, and all the indications from our first clients and our own testing are that it’s reliable, accurate and easily customisable to suit a variety of scenarios.
We’ll be writing more about specific product features in the future, but in the meantime please don’t hesitate get in touch with our sales team to find out more.
